Libby burst on the scene at the Assen 2006 IPC
Athletics World Championships, winning a silver medal and just missing
out on a second medal, aged just 16.
The teenager from Newcastleton in the Borders was partnered by guide
runner Lincoln Asquith at the World Championships - her biggest event
yet.
She produced terrific performances in the T12 200m, setting a personal
best of 26.13 sec in her heat and further reducing it to 26.06 sec
in the final as she took silver behind Ukraine's Oxana Boturchuk.

Libby produced more fine performances in the 100m, setting personal
bests of 12.82 in the heats and then 12.76 and finished second in
the final, but this time she was disqualified after officials decided
her guide runner crossed the line before her.
Earlier in the 2006 season, Libby won T12 100m and 200m titles at
the British Open Championships in June and at the Spanish Open in
July 2006. |
